Summary
Steps Involved in Accessing Files from Your SD Card Using a Mac. Step 1: Simply put your SD card into the SD slot and let the computer read it. The SD slot of a typical Mac should be able to access standard 4MB- 2GB standard SD cards, SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) 4MB-32GB cards, 4GB-2TB SDXC, MMC (MultiMedia Cards), and UHS-II (up to 2TB. I have a Late 2012 Mac Mini with 16GB OWC RAM running Sierra without problems since I upgraded the RAM. Right after I installed Mojave, however, the lower RAM slot stopped working: two chimes at intervals. Both 8GB RAM modules work fine in the upper slot (no RAM in lower slot). Any suggestions? A desktop tower (Mac Pro, G4 say) will take significantly less time to deal with than a laptop. A MacBook optical drive replacement could set you back as much as $250 (possibly more) for parts and labour. A tower repair/replacement is not too daunting a task for anyone who knows how to use a screwdriver. Not long ago i've decided to start using my Mac mini again but the first thing I heard was three beeps. I started researching this problem and it was a problem with my ram slot. I don' know how to fix this problem but maybe someone here had the same problem as I do. I've got an Mac mini mid 2011 on 10.10.x with 2X 4gb Ram.

Hi everyone; thought I'd offer a tip.
Mac Mini Sd Slot Not Working
Sometimes my Mac Mini (2010 unibody server model) will recognize an SD card.. but then after it's ejected, it won't recognize a new one inserted -- sometimes not even the same SD card. The Mac Mini just refuses to mount a SD card after the original card is pulled out/ejected.
This tip from 2011 for iMacs appears to work quite well to fix this issue.. at least one my Mac Mini.
'Turns out this is not a software problem, but a hardware problem. There is a small switch inside the card reader that signals to the computer that a card has been inserted. This switch can get stuck.'
'The solution is to insert a toothpick or other non-conductive 'stick' into the SD card slot to free up the switch. According to posts on the Apple site, the switch is located at the top/back of the card slot. I also poked around the bottom/back of the slot for safe measure (I never actually saw the switch). After 'flossing the inside of the slot a couple times, the reader works once again!'

Remember! Don't use any metal or other conductive materials! Do use plastic or, if you're confident you won't leave splinters behind, a wodden toothpick!
